Electronic Cigarettes, over 100,000 Units Destined for Recycling by ECOEM

Satisfactory results from the program agreement signed with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, as over 11 tons of tobacco heaters, electronic cigarettes, and related components have been collected and sent for treatment by the ECOEM Consortium in the last 6 months of activity. The establishment of the accredited collection circuit has enabled retail points throughout the National territory to ensure the collection of used cigarettes and contribute to the proper end-of-life management of electrical and electronic equipment through the accredited supply chain of Collective Systems.

Vincenzo Della Monica, Operations at ECOEM Consortium states “Although they are small devices with relatively low weight, electronic cigarettes are manufactured with recyclable materials, metals, and plastics, including lithium batteries inside. A common-use product that, although small, generates a significant environmental impact when properly managed. Through ECOEM Consortium’s logistic services, in the last six months of activity, we have ensured the proper treatment of over 11 tons of E-CIG, equivalent to more than 100,000 recycled electronic cigarettes, directing them to accredited and certified treatment facilities, contributing to our country’s sustainability and circular economy
