ECOEM GROUP’S COLLECTION GROWS IN 2023

The 2023 collection data closes positively, as recorded in recent years. In fact, the ECOEM GROUP collected and initiated the correct recycling and treatment of approximately 5,741 tons of household WEEE, 35% more than in 2022, and a significant 3,890 tons of professional WEEE, a 75% increase compared to the previous year. Over the past year, more than 4,000 collection requests were fulfilled at the network of collection points managed by ECOEM nationwide, totaling 843 municipal and private collection centers, compared to 479 in 2022.

The most significant numbers are recorded in the R4 grouping, which includes all IT and consumer electronics, lighting equipment, small appliances, and more. For this grouping, nearly 2,500 collections were carried out, totaling over 4,500 tons, which were then delivered to accredited treatment facilities, a 150% increase compared to the previous year. The CDCNPA circuit also shows increasing numbers, with a 303% increase in portable batteries collected across the various provinces managed by the Consortium.
Comments Vincenzo Della Monica, Operation Consorzio ECOEM, despite the national WEEE sector experiencing a stagnation phase for some years now, we can be absolutely satisfied with the growing numbers recorded by our Group’s collection. In the past year, we have worked to ensure collection services in compliance with the quality standards present in the program agreement and ensured a punctuality rate exceeding 97%. The group has reached a total of approximately 9,670 tons of intermediated waste, confirming a strong contribution to the circular economy and the environment in which we live.
